Dumbledore, Sirius, et al all died knowing they could die at anytime for the cause of good. They went into a battle prepared. Soldier vs soldier. Hedwig was different. He was a (helpless) animal caught in the crossfire. I think it showed the devastation to their lives that this battle was. When Hedwig died, it was so real. It emphasized the brink that Harry was brought to and had to overcome. IMO. =) I think Hedwig’s death was very different than the others.
