its a sort of all round multi-purpose cleaner that's been around for years but is now finding favour again, with those who are trying to clean more simply, and not use all the branded products. I've seen a reference to "Barkeeper's Friend" being better, and i know that's available in the USA, but i don't know about mixing it with vinegar. I've tried to see if stardrops is available in the USA but it doesn't look like it is. Sorry! http://www.thorntonross.com/household/product_images/stardrops.jpg is a pic of it, and there's a very very long thread here singing its praises http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=172073 on a sort of UK based money saving forum... hope that helps.

I have never seen Stardrops here, unless it's a different name. What is it exactly?

yep vinegar is definitely okay with microfibre clothes. bloomin good thing too - guess what i use. LOL.

the vinegar/stardrops/microfibre cloths combo is absolutely fantastic for getting tiles clean and shiny and streak free, btw. if you ever have to seriously impress someone and you have tiles in your house, that'd be the way. spray with vinegar/stardrops, wipe/scrub clean with a wet microfibre towel, then rub with a DRY microfibre towel. it looks *wonderful*.

http://www.thorntonross.com/products/branded-household.html is the company that makes them. I don't mix vinegar with anything else, cos it can be dodgy and produce nasty fumes, but this i know is safe - been using it for years.

Two things you can't use with microfiber: fabric softner and bleach. Everything else is all right, as far as I know. Vinegar certainly is.

What percentage is US white vinegar? See, in Sweden white vinegar is called "ättika" and is sold in two strengths: 12% and 24%. The latter stinks to high hells, but the former's all right.

I go through phases with Fetlife. It's much more enjoyable for me now that I've realized that the people there aren't looking for advice or for ways to "fix" anything. They are there to be validated and patted on the head, or they are there to joke with friends.

I joke with friends and let the rest of them mollycoddle each other to death. Way less frustration that way!
