That cat snuck that bag out of the garbage about two weeks ago. He *loves* it. He plays with it ALL the time. He carries it around in his mouth, sleeps on it, attacks it. It’s all ripped up and shredded. I hate that anyone coming over sees this empty rice bag laying in the middle of the living room floor, but I can’t bear to separate him from his happy bag.

The orange one looks just like my orange one. But skinnier, and maybe with breath that’s not as bad.
The all black and orange ones are boys, the tortie is a girl. And she’s a prissy bitch, too.
The bad breath in this house belongs to the dog. And the farts. He’s nothing but a shedding stink creator.
On another note, I actually managed to (when I got my Taima) end up with a calico MALE. His colours didn’t all show when I got him, but we knew there was already something weird about him; We got him neutered at 9 months, but he’d never started spraying. He acts like a hermie.

I wish I would have been videotaping them. They were completely baffled by the snow. It was hilarious! They’d stick a foot out, snatch it back. The black one hopped out and damn near did a backflip trying to get back in. Too fucking funny.

No Emails! I got nothing. Oh, we figured out what was going on with the crab death. The Store had a massive die off, too, but was still selling these sick crabs. I warned them TWICE to stop selling sick crabs and they did not listen to me, so with Master’s permission, I called the Department of Agriculture (they regulate pet stores) and told them about it. The USDA around here knows me because I get pet stores cited all the time by reporting them for violations. They went into the store, cited them, confiscated the crabs that were left and sent them to the facility they send marine and beach animals to to be studied, helped and sent to good homes. My other four crabs are doing well. I bathed them all and gave them a dip in that stress bath stuff and they seem to be OK.

What I found amusing is *my* reaction to the snow – at first I thought you erased the bottom of the picture for a funny. Then I looked a bit longer and realized ‘hey, dumbass, it’s snow’.
(The one time He took me up north when some snow was still on the ground we were two hours into it on 95 before I realized it wasn’t a white sand four-wheelin’ thing. Can you tell I’m a total snow retard?)

We’re still waiting for our first snowfall out here in the west. Last year we had enough to close campus four days during winter quarter, almost unheard of for this university (the gov. had to order us to close the week Mt. St. Helens blew).
I love cats. One of my roommate got a hold of some peacock feathers for a halloween costume and now my cat drags one out every few days and plays with it until there’s a bare stem. The other cat (not mine) will hunt birds in the spring and summer. My roommates try to stop her, but seriously, the birds keep building nests on the ground! I say that’s evolution in action. Anyway, I loved the cat picks. I used to have a cat just like your orange one. BTW, I understand that orange females are nearly impossible; that orange coloration is a male linked trait. Do you know if that’s true or urban legend?

Actually. I have a story for you concerning orange cats!!
Female orange cats are really rare, they’re generally male for some reason.
Tortise shell cats are generally female, and they’re rarely male.
I had a tortoiseshell cat who got pregnant and gave birth to TWO female orange cats. When I took them to the vet she was very surprised. We figure it just had to do with the orange being the dominant color (there’s orange in tortoiseshells) and that since torties usually give birth to females, they were both females.
So there you have it. They’re rare, but possible. Apparently if you get the breeding right too.
Sometimes I’m still shocked that I have two female orange cats, one I could understand, but two is amazing imo.

Also apparently the % of an orange cat being female is 25% where the odds of a tortoise shell being male is 1/1000.
Sorry this is in so many replies but it’s something I’m interested in since I have two female orange cats.
So, obviously female orange cats aren’t incredibly rare, but they’re rare enough for an urban legend and for vets to say they’re rare lol.

ok, i’ll throw my science knowledge out here. The reason orange tends to be a male trait is that it is a recessive trait. Therefore if there is another fur color chromasome it is dominant and is expressed instead of the orange….thus, if there are 2 X chromasomes and only one is orange, you see the other one. Males only have one X so what you get is what you see.

I’m just curious since you seem to know more about this than I!
1. If it’s a recessive trait doesn’t that mean that like, it’s more difficult to pass along and for it to be expressed? Like, if you have a female with Bb for brown fur (obviously more complicated than this) and an orange oo for orange, then shouldn’t their combinations be Bo bo x2? And if that’s the case wouldn’t it just take forever for an actual orange cat to take place? It seems like there’s a lot of them (more than genetics should verify) but maybe there’s something more complicated about how the O is on the chromosome, or maybe it’s rare but it doesn’t seem rare because there are so many cats.
2. If this is the case with the chromosomes, does that mean that generally second generation Bo bo (or whatever mixes with o) can be breed with either a full out oo cat (or bo/Bo) in order to get a even more rare chance? I know in basic genetics this works, but where it’s more complicated does that mean there’s less of a chance working out like that.
I realize both questions are kind of similar lol.
Sorry if I’m assuming if you know more than you do, but you seem like you know a good amount about the genetics thus why I am asking!
And by “even more rare chance” in question 2 I mean 1/2 – 1/4 depending on what the oo mixes with. Clarification ftw.
Louie(I have a picture of him on fetlife) looks almost similar to your orange one. He has more white on him. He is the resident “Player” in the apartment building I live in. He will dart out the door and head straight upstairs to the other kitties that live up there. He always comes back when called. He meows at everything. Loves water, and is a complete boob when the mood strikes him. He also hates other cats that I have tried to bring in the house. Hated one so bad the poor cat started losing clumps of hair cuz of stress. I finally took him back to the shelter instead of keeping the torment up.
Only time I get pissy is when he darts out the door when I’m leaving, cuz then I have to chase his ass down before I leave. Funny thing about him going to that other cats house is, that it’s a girl kitty and my cat got his parts fixed.
Maybe this year I will toss him out in the snow just to get a good laugh. LMAO!

I love the pics. My cat has a happy box. He won’t sleep in his bed but he will spend hours in a cardboard box.
My cats (who I had to re-home because my partner is allergic – hardest thing I have ever had to do) had happy balled up paper. My house looked like I threw it at the bin and missed and was too damn lazy to pick it up!! Love your cat pics, I had a ginger tom too and think he was the cuddliest cat in the world, he loved to be picked up and kissed. I miss him so much it hurts my heart.
