only thing i can think of is…….
one cereal box – empty..
papier mache – mix flour and water – add a pinch of salt and strips of newspaper..
cover the cereal box.. then you can mold it pretty much anyway you want using other strips of newspaper…
then paint and label……
only thing is .. papier mache takes approximately 24 – 48 hours to dry enough to paint / label etc..

It’s due Monday and of course I just heard about it tonight.
Kids. :/
Cake…make it out of cake, then the class can eat it when it’s over and you get a double win.
lol.. I might eat it before he gets it to school. :D
You can also manage it with construction paper and styrofoam blocks too… or with felt from the fabric store. I remember doing this in school! This site has a good pic that might help. Good luck, and have fun. :) (Seriously!)

Styrofoam! Good idea!
Aw, see… I read this and thought you meant 3D like… You know… On a computer. I hear about 3D models all the time, usually in conjunction with things like “He wants me to matchmove a zoom, and I really want to avoid that because it changes the focal length.” So I was going to say “OMG, my brother is a visual effects artist! He can make anything in 3D!”
Then I got distracted looking at your tags, and saw/remembered that you have a tag called ‘poopcake’ and I giggled for a bit.
Then I refocused and realized since this isn’t computer-3D, I’m entirely useless.
Clearly, I decided to comment anyway.
I think they make medication for this sort of thing. Hrm.
(Also, I think you should make it out of your peanutbutter fudge. The reasons are, I should think, self-evident. I don’t see a downside to this idea.)

And wouldn’t you know that searching for things like “3D models” only brings up computer things! All I wanted was a picture of some other poor middle schooler’s project so’s I could copy it. Is that so much to ask??
I have nightmares of that poopcake. I am traumatized. Someday, I’ll have to make one. :D
I still think cake.
:)
You are making me hungry. :P
A whojawhataplank?
I like kids. With ketchup.
Thats what *I* said! Thank goodness for Google or god only knows what his project would have been. ;)

Make the kid make it? lol…:)
Heh. That was my immediate reaction, as well.
aww! But he’s so sweetly pathetic sitting at the table going “I don’t know what to DO, Mom. *sniffle* Won’t you help widdle ol’ me with it?”
How can I say no to that face!?
You can do it!
Kaya,
Playdoh or modelling clay should work nicely.

I had to google convergent plate boundary to find out that it’s actually a subject that I used to be very good at in high school. Other than this completely useless piece of information I don’t really have anything helpful to say. (You’d think I’d decide against commenting then, wouldn’t you?;)
Make brittle…you know…like peanut brittle…for the oceaninc plate…a layer of cake for the land plate…use something like blue tinted vanella frosting for the water…turn over a icecream cone for the volcano…and send forks…LOL…
How ’bout using colored sand in a clear glass jar, layered? I like the cake idea as well :-)

Incidentally I am a teacher and I am going to have to google that shit. What the hell….
My son is sitting here doing something he was supposed to have done during the week he was just off also…
I dont know where that pesky procrastination gene came from….
(Thanks for visiting me BTW – I can not tell you what it meant to me!)

2 paper plates on top of a layer of marbles, all on a baking sheet? one plate curving up, one down…. move them together, voila subduction.
